Sometimes simple things are best. Take one look at the Curtain Burner TL-50 and you cannot help but notice its straightforward design. This deliberate engineering devolution is intended to eliminate any unnecessary components or wiring that would cause degradation in sound quality. The result, one of the most sonically pure amplifiers available today. While its sound is reminiscent of the classic British tube amps of the 60’s and 70’s, the TL-50 offers a transparent reproduction of notes not found in older amps.

The preamp section of the TL-50 consists of one 12AT7 and two 7025 tubes. The front-end stages of the amplifier create an immediate response to the player’s touch and highlight every nuance of change to the strings. A Calm/Bold switch allows for adjustments in the voicing of the TL-50 ranging from an open, lively feel, to a tighter, more controlled tonal foundation. An anode-driven TMB tone stack highlights the midrange voice of the electric guitar, while emphasizing tonal characteristics inherently filtered out by most guitar amps. 

The power amp section of the TL-50 entails a single 12AX7 phase inverter and two EL34 output tubes. Together, with tight diode rectification, the power amp section of the TL-50 provides a focused aural punch with clear articulation and sustain.

With a single input, a single channel, and a non-cluttered faceplate, the Curtain Burner TL-50 is the antithesis of the over engineered all-purpose platform amp. The TL-50 is designed to do one thing: create the best guitar tones possible.
